About us

Down South Camping & Outdoors was created in April 2004 and purchased by Jarrad Clark and Katie Quarles in December 2022 who continue the legacy

The Margaret River region is characterised by its natural beauty on the land, river and sea, and our logo is a reflection of that. Here at Down South Camping & Outdoors we offer excellent service through local knowledge and the highest quality products, at a convenient location in the heart of Margaret River. All profits stay in the local community through employment of local staff and the use of other local supporting businesses.

Family owned and operated business that has been operating in the town for over 20 years.

Down South Camping & Outdoors was a store we often shopped at and therefore we knew it was a well-respected local business. So when the opportunity arose to take over the significant legacy built by the previous owners, we jumped on it.

We have been living in the region now for over 7 years and cannot see ourselves leaving anytime soon. We love boating, fishing, camping and diving and regularly travel across the state in pursuit of WA’s pristine environments.

Jarrad is a zoologist with over 20 years’ experience surveying animals across WA’s diverse environments. Katie has worn many different hats in her career, beginning in nursing, then moving into the mining sector, then injury management, motherhood, and most recently bringing it all together with hypnotherapy. Together we bring those environmental and people skills to the business, along with our wonderful staff.

The store has always stocked quality products in all segments and as new owners we wish to continue that mindset, as we look to the future and new products. We aim to ensure our customers buy the best, long-lasting products they can so that they maximise the enjoyment of their outdoors pursuits.

The store occupies a large 350m2 of showroom floor space in our town’s commercial centre on Station Road. So come down and see us today for expert advice and service.
